The Chesterfield Inlet Holding Corporation is owned and operated under the Chesterfield Inlet Development Corporation. In summary, the holding corporation's activities include:
- Accounting and bookkeeping for the Development, Holding and Pimakslirvik Corporations
- General contractor for housing projects within Chesterfield Inlet including a number of duplexes and triplexes
- Joint ventures - for example, the resurfacing of the Chesterfield Inlet runway
- Bed & Breakfast
- Calm Air travel agent/ cargo
- Ambulance service
The Holding Corporation is the primary property manager of all
properties, vehicles, tools and equipment used to further the
aims and goals of the corporation. It provides a staff house
for the qualified medical Southern Staff needed to assist in
the care-giving and supervision of local Activity Aids working
in Naja Isabelle Home. It also leases a wheel-chair van to the
Home for use in transporting the residents to the Health Centre,
Airport, or community activities.
The Corporation is also involved in construction and refitting
homes in the community under contract with the Housing Association.
The need for suitable housing is very high, not only for families
but also for southern professionals, such as teachers, who need
reasonably priced accommodation.
